Creating Safe Restaurant
Spaces Through Gun Violence Prevention
Our country is in the midst of a gun violence epidemic, affecting tens of
thousands of Americans every year.
One of the many devastating impacts of gun violence is its impact on small businesses, including restaurants. Increased gun violence in a community causes local businesses to shutter and reduce jobs.
Increased gun violence causes:
Decrease in growth among local businesses, including restaurants
Fewer jobs per gun homicide
inKind knows firsthand the devastating effects of gun violence
On November 15, 2022, Rajan Moonesinghe,
co-founder of inKind, was killed by gun
violence. Raj’s death opened our eyes to
how senseless gun violence can impact
anyone, and re-committed us to holistically
improving communities.

inKind is part of the Gun Violence Solution
inkind has proudly hosted several events and fundraisers at our restaurants around the country, raising awareness about the impacts of gun violence on our communities.

March 27, 2024: A business roundtable at inKind partner restaurant, Paraíso, in Washington, DC. At this event, we gathered DC-based hospitality industry and corporate prospects to discuss the issue of gun violence.

June 7-8 2024: inKind served as a sponsor for the Ramble Music Festival in Healdsburg, California. inKind’s CEO, Johann Moonesinghe, participated in programming during the event alongside Kelly and Noah Dorrance of Reeve Wines, who have also been personally impacted by gun violence. All proceeds from the Ramble Music Festival were donated to gun violence prevention efforts.
Ending Gun Violence Alongside GIFFORDS
inKind is proud to partner with GIFFORDS, a leader in the movement, to end gun violence in America.
Led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle
Giffords, GIFFORDS brings decades of political, legal, and policy expertise to the fight for gun safety.

March 2024: Johann Moonesinghe spoke on a panel of gun violence prevention experts at his restaurant, Ember Kitchen, in Austin, TX during SXSW. Johann shared his personal experience with gun violence and other panelists discussed the socio-economic causes of gun violence in America.
